I got together with the Big Puma for a beer last night. It was good to see him again — it had been a while. We haven't ridden together a whole lot since he slid down the triathlon path. No, really, they slide a lot — he showed me the scar on his leg.
Anyway, we talked about bikes and racing and what's coming up this year. My plans will probably be curtailed in light of the current situation. It seems like that's the situation every year, somehow.
All of the Nebraska races are free for me, so they're an obvious choice. Unfortunately, there are only two or three Nebraska races on the schedule right now. I'd hoped to target the Clear Lake weekend in July once again. There's obviously still time to do that, so I won't rule it out yet.
But other than that, I doubt I'll go too far out of town. The Iowa Spring Classic series — at least one of the races — would be cool. Twin Bing would be on the list in early April. With so many races near or around Des Moines, it would be good to get over there, too.
We'll see. There's a lot of waiting and hoping going on right now. Racing is ultimately a pretty low priority right now, but the bike is keeping me sane. Even if I only ended up doing in-state races, it would probably be enough.
