In the past, when I've mapped out training schedules and targeted races on the calendar, I've had few problems getting up for the big workouts — the 2-hour, up-tempo death marches. Quite the opposite, actually — those are fun. I love the challenge.
Instead, the spots where I tend to fall away from the schedule are on rest weeks, especially in the winter. Yesterday's schedule had one hour of easy spinning. It was strange and chilly and foggy around here yesterday, and the idea of kitting up in thermal bits to go spin slowly around the neighborhoods seemed like a waste of time. I walked the dogs instead.
Today calls for another easy hour, but it's going to be 50 degrees, so I might stretch it out to two hours. I'll still ride easy, but it seems like it will actually be worth the effort to get outside.
While I always welcome a little break after piling on the miles, this is the time of the week when I'm ready to go again. Just a few more days and it'll be time to open it up again. Not a moment too soon.

It's so hard this time of year to not take full advantage of the few good days. I wonder if it would really hurt anything to go out and have fun today.
No, it probably wouldn't hurt. According to the weather tree, windchimes and flying dog, though, it's pretty windy.
