Surprisingly OK

Despite my adventure on Wednesday, I still ended up hitting it pretty hard on the bike.

I followed that up last night with an hour of big-gear work. Well, 45 minutes of big-gear work after a 15-minute warmup. By sheer chance, I was watching the Arcalis stage of the 2009 Tour. It was climbing the entire time I was on the bike, so it was a nice backdrop.

After 45 minutes in the 53x12, my legs were a little wobbly. I wasn't really expecting to feel great on the ride in, but I was pleasantly surprised. My legs didn't feel super-heavy or sore or anything. And when I needed to punch it to get through traffic, it was fine.

Of course, the 20mph tailwind probably helped. I'll see the flip side of that on the way home, which will be a treat.

As far as the weekend goes, Saturday will be a mess, since Maddie's baptism is tomorrow evening. The morning will be a busy mix of groceries, cleaning and trying to get a workout in.

Sunday? Time to ride. Yes.
