The long way

Maddie's baptism was on Saturday. Normally, that would be plenty of weekend-filling fodder.

But on top of that, we cleaned, I got groceries, my dad and I replaced our kitchen faucet, we went to church and then took everybody out to eat. And then I rode my bike for far too long on Sunday.

Because I don't do the ride all that often, I forgot how long it actually takes to ride to Glenwood and back. You gotta budget 4.5 hours for that one. After fighting a northwest wind that was supposed to be a southwest wind for the better part of two-plus hours, I rolled in with 4:45 on the clock.

That's a long ride.

But the good part about it was that, really, at no point did it seem hard. I felt strong and solid all day. I guess that means I ate as much as I needed and all of that. I'll take it.

The weather looks sketchy for this week. Rain, snow, sun and wind. I'll probably end up on the trainer once or twice. We're at that point where the real work is starting to happen. Light it up, right?
