We spent $60 at a pumpkin patch?

Yes, actually, we did.

The folks at Vala's Pumpkin Patch have a pretty good racket going. It was $12.75 apiece to get in — including Jack. Some snacks, a pumpkin and ... bang. $60. And we tried really hard to keep it reasonable. You could blow $100 really quick.

Upside: The smoked turkey leg was outstanding. And we got there early enough that we didn't have to deal with any parking issues. And Jack had fun, even though he didn't take a nap and has an unnatural fear of bouncy-house things.

Downside: We spent $60 at a frickin' pumpkin patch. For the record, pumpkins at Hy-Vee are $5.

They have to be making a killing with the perfect weather we've had for the last month. Soon Jack will be in school and he can go with the school and save you $60...and you can race 2 more races or buy another set of tires.

I guess the average is $80-100 per car and there is a line all weekend coming and going. The cookies bites by the pig races are also good.

We didn't get down to the pig races. Probably a good thing. Come to think of it, we didn't see the pumpkin launcher, either.

Jack did, however, dominate his daycare friends on the trike/tractor course. Hell yes.

Yeah...that place is probably clearing overhead but consider they've got 6 weeks of money making to support an entire year.
