So ... rest week. Most of the workouts are easy hour-long spins on the trainer, with HR in zones 1 and 2.
Blah.
After warming up for a few minutes, I always feel like I'm accomplishing absolutely nothing for the rest of the hour. And while I certainly don't mind the trainer -- the work has to be done somehow -- I definitely don't like wasting time. So I went for a run this morning.
The last run I can remember was around Christmas. Based on how my legs feel right now (upset, bordering on angry), I'll remember this one for a while. Nothing is injured by any means, but it's obvious which muscles aren't used on the bike.
Tomorrow I'll do that hour of easy spin, plus some core work, and all will be well. And then I'll go back to race planning. Gonna be a fun schedule.

I get the same feeling when I am in my recovery week. I like to think that the easy days have a cleansing effect on the legs.
Great day for a run, BRedemske. I myself put down just over 5 in the sun and warmth over lunch. Nice.
Did you wear a HR monitor on your run? I find that zones 1 & 2 are about as painfully boring while running as spinning on the trainer. What do you think?
Anyway, I'm sure your legs will feel better tomorrow after warming up and spinning them out.
joe -- I get more cleansing by just not riding. Tomorrow will definitely be cleansing on the bike, though.
brady -- I averaged 131, just into zone 2. And when you haven't run for two months, no heart rate zone is that boring.
What I can never figure out is why you can be a runner and jump on a bike and be strong but conversely if you bike only and try to run it is like pedaling squares. My brother finishes all his rides with a couple miles of jogging. If he doesn't bike he runs 5-6 in am and 5-6 pm. If he stops running for awile it takes a couple weeks to get back in the groove. He and I run for weight loss. 1 hour LSD burns FAT.
