Happy birthday to me

Fancy schmancy. And my thanks to Mark at the Trek Store for the heads up on these. As I was getting ready to leave after picking up my new tires yesterday, he said, "hey there's a lot of stuff on sale. Lance shoes for 90 bucks."

Thanks for that.

So I tried them on. They fit. They feel good. I hemmed. I hawed (which is harder than you think). And ultimately, I left. 90 bucks is a lot when there's baby stuff to buy and your wife doesn't fit into any of her clothes.

But my birthday's in two months. Remembering correctly that Chris bought herself a birthday gift last June (her birthday is in August), I went that route. So, happy birthday to me indeed. I picked them up on the way to work today, but had to part with my cool Discovery Channel t-shirt (only in blue). Can't have 'em both. That's just greedy.

So, for tomorrow -- gonna go for a ride in the new kicks, then probably stop by the shop and get another set of cleats. I envision the Nikes as race shoes only. My Pearls are OK still, but one of the straps is separating from the velcro. Still, they're good for the summer, at least. And definitely on the trainer. I rode a few blocks in the Nikes tonight, but I'm going to have Dave give them a look tomorrow. I don't think they're quite right.

Oh, and tomorrow is a particularly large day -- we find out if the baby is a boy or a girl. Yes! After that, we're taking it to its first baseball game -- Northern Iowa is at Creighton this weekend. Fun abounds.

Congrats on all your new stuff; shoes, baby's and baseball games.
I always have to buy my b-day presents; no one can ever find the obscure music or bike part I want!
Glad to see your a baseball fan too. I love watching the game and it was always been my favorite sport to play. Just hate to see both my favorites sports dealing with the doping issues right now. MLB is a little less agressive than the UCI, which is sad.

Hey, thanks. My wife usually does a good job if I point her in the right direction. But my parents and her parents just write checks. I'm OK with that.

As for baseball, I think MLB is almost afraid to find out what's in the Mitchell report. The more layers they peel back, the more they realize it's been a huge problem for a long time. And UCI is pretty similar.

That said, I can't wait for opening day.

Sufjan's tonight, right?

Cool shoes. If you ever come to TX to ride they will think you are a local.

The Tiger's are going to win it all this year!
There I said it.
Sufjan is tonight. Heard he has a good size band and slideshow this go around. I will post a review.
Enjoy opening day!
On the topic of riding in Omaha (my post), I don't see myself out there again for awhile. Did both of the Paypal projects and that will be it for them I think. But if I am, I will take you up on it.

so, is it a girl or boy?!

I'm not telling. Nor is Chris.

But we have the name picked out already. Actually, we had both names picked out. And we have pictures, too. I'm going to post them sometime this weekend.

That's Chris my wife. Not Chris from Texas. I have no idea why he'd know.

Merry b-day Bryan and cute baby pics. By the way, I'm bailing on the century ride on Sunday. The crit in Des Moines is my destination. I got suckered in by being offered a free ride to and from.

Have fun on the ride and tell Spence to slow down.
